Private Jets · 2026 Edition
Private jet charter cost in 2026 — the real numbers, side by side.
Charter prices in 2026 fell into a clearer band: light jets are landing in the $4,500–$7,000 per hour range, super-mids run $9,000–$12,000, and the long-range heavies — Globals, G650/G700s, Falcon 8X — sit between $14,000 and $19,500 per hour all-in. The number that matters isn't the hourly: it's the trip total with positioning, FBO handling, catering, crew per diems and de-icing. We benchmark all of that below.
What changed in 2026
Three shifts moved real prices this year. Sustainable Aviation Fuel surcharges added 6–11% on most European routes — fully passed through to charter. New Part 135 crew rest rules out of FAA shaved one to two trips per week off many US fleets, which pushed peak-week pricing on transcons up ~14% over 2024. And the empty-leg market got smarter: operators now publish near-real-time empty-leg inventory, so for flexible flyers, last-minute deals on G450s and Challenger 650s are routinely 35–55% off published one-way pricing.
The practical takeaway: book early for fixed dates, stay flexible for the discount. Either way, run the trip against multiple operators — quoted prices for the same aircraft type on the same route routinely vary by 18–25%.

Avoid the four hidden costs
- Positioning legs. If the aircraft has to fly empty to reach you, you pay for it. Choose operators with fleet bases near your origin, or accept a different tail.
- Peak-day premiums. Super Bowl, Davos, Cannes, Coachella. Surcharges range 25–80%. Booking 90+ days out is the cleanest mitigation.
- FBO and handling fees. Premium FBOs at Van Nuys, Le Bourget, Farnborough and Teterboro routinely add $1,800–$4,500 per turn.
- De-icing. A G650 de-ice in January at JFK can run $6,000–$11,000. Build it into winter trip budgets.
