Superyachts · 2026 Edition

Superyacht weeks in 2026 — what they actually cost, end to end.

Charter brokers love quoting "base week." The real number you'll pay is base week + APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance, typically 25–35% of base) + VAT depending on cruising ground + crew gratuity (5–15%). For a 50-meter Mediterranean week with a $450k base, that means an honest budget of $620–720k all in. We show you the full math on every option.

The 2026 yacht-week math

Base week (the headline number)

What the broker quotes for seven days of the yacht itself — captain, crew salaries, insurance, and the right to use the vessel.

APA — 25–35% on top

Pre-funded into a crew account. Covers fuel, port fees, food, beverage, dockage at destination marinas, and special provisioning. Reconciled at trip end; unused funds refunded.

VAT and cruising tax

Varies wildly: France 22% on time in French waters, Italy 22% (with route-based reductions), Croatia 13%, Caribbean typically nil. A good broker structures the itinerary to minimize this legally.

Gratuity — 5–15% of base

Industry-standard tip for the crew, paid at the end of the trip. 10% is the modal number for an excellent week.

Choosing the right yacht

Length matters less than the aft-deck plan and tender garage. A 60m with a beach club, twin tenders and a real spa beats a 70m without — especially for guests who want to actually use the water. For families, look for split master/VIP cabins on the same level and a dedicated kids' lounge. For party charters, look for the foredeck DJ-ready audio plan and an aft-deck pool that doubles as a stage. Ask the broker for the GA (general arrangement) before you sign — it tells you the truth.

The five questions to ask any broker

  1. What is the all-in budget assuming a 30% APA and 10% tip?
  2. Who is the captain, and how long have they cruised this region?
  3. What's the GA — and where do you propose putting our party?
  4. What watertoys are onboard right now, and what would you bring in for us?
  5. What's the cancellation and weather-route policy in writing?
